Ahmed Jaziri Wins 3,000 Meters at Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

– Eastern Kentucky University junior Ahmed Jaziri won the men’s 3,000 meters on Saturday at the Music City Challenge with a personal-best time of 8:00.03.
 
That time currently ranks Jaziri No. 27 in the country.
 
The native of Rades, Tunisia trailed LSU’s Davis Bove at the bell, but displayed impressive closing speed over the final lap, out-kicking Bove over the last 100 meters to take the race at the line.
 
Jaziri’s 8:00.03 ranks No. 4 all-time on EKU’s indoor 3,000 meters list.
 
The track and field Colonels return to action on Wednesday at the Lenny Lyles Cardinal Invitational in Louisville.
