It’s hard to imagine our backstage experience will ever be quite what it was pre-COVID. In the Before Times, it wasn’t unusual to find yourself wedged between multiple bodies, tripping over power cords, and ducking between models in the hair and makeup space in an attempt to get a three-minute interview with a designer. Now, the few IRL shows happening in New York are small, socially-distanced affairs with strict health and safety protocols in place—including decidedly spacious, un-crowded backstage areas.
But even without the frenzy and crush of people, the magic and pre-show excitement is still there. HunterAbrams is going behind the scenes at some of the week’s main events, starting with Prabal Gurung’s video shoot and Jason Wu’s intimate show in Soho.
