Fashion Island tree decked out for the holidays – Orange County Register

The holidays officially arrived at Fashion Island in Newport Beach as the last of 10,000 lights and 6,000 ornaments were placed on a 90-foot tree.

Workers with Victor’s Custom Christmas Trees spent the last two weeks decorating the tree, one ornament at a time.

Do they get burnt out decorating trees during a season that starts in October?

“We love it,” said co-owner Gina Serrao. “I go home and decorate two trees there.”

And they said they love the feedback their work receives.

“We love hearing about people seeing the tree and appreciating it. Especially this year,” Serrao said. “It’s a blessing.”

The white fir started its 650-mile journey from the Mt. Shasta region of Northern California at the beginning of October.

After a crane lifted the 10,000-pound tree into place in the center’s courtyard, the next two weeks were spent decorating.

Because of coronavirus restrictions, Fashion Island is offering virtual visits with Santa and photo opportunities throughout the property.

The tree, which will be recycled after the holidays, will be on display through Jan. 2.
